The Fool's Journey

The Journey of Life

The major arcana cards can actually be seen to tell a tale, similiar to a journey through life.

We start with the FOOL, a naive spirit venturing out into the world. The first person he meets is his teacher, his guide/guru - the MAGICIAN.

The Magician tries to enlighten the Fool, but before this can happen the Fool needs to face up to some of the realities of life. He has to face the powers of authority represented by the HIGH PRIESTESS, EMPRESS, EMPEROR and HIEROPHANT.

Then there may be challenges in life that have to be met and dealt with. This may cause dilemmas and choices to be made - the LOVERS. In turn this may lead to movement and change - the CHARIOT.

Having dealth with any challenges it may then be necessary to withdraw for a period of reflection. It may also be found that an enforced drawing in or withdrawal may be necessary at this time - the HERMIT.

The Fool then reaches the halfway stage in his journey, an opportunity to reassess his life - the WHEEL of FORTUNE. He may have to think hard about what is right and/or wrong - JUSTICE.

Onward paths may require - STRENGTH.

Some sacrifice may be necessary - the HANGED MAN.

Some of the harder lessons in life may need to be accepted together with letting go of the past in order to move on - DEATH.

A gathering of spiritual and moral energy, or a period of economy and good management - TEMPERANCE, may then be necessary to prevent any further decline - the DEVIL, and possibly even ruin - the TOWER.

The final stages of the journey bring spiritual enlightenment, travelling in higher spheres - the STAR, the MOON, the SUN.

The Day of Judgement then arrives, when the spirit, no longer a naive Fool, can join the wholeness of being and know the WORLD.
